Meet Jason Abbott

Jason Abbott is a Registered Psychologist at Inspired Minds Wellness Centre, offering compassionate, evidence-based counselling for adolescents and adults. His approach is collaborative, culturally sensitive, and gender-inclusive, helping clients feel understood and supported as they work toward meaningful change in their lives.
Jason began his professional journey as a professor, where he discovered a passion for supporting people on a more personal level. He went on to complete his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Concordia University in 2016, followed by a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from McGill University in 2019.
Clinical Approach and Focus Areas
Jason takes a person-centred and strengths-based approach to therapy, drawing on a combination of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) to help clients develop insight, regulate emotions, and reach their goals. He works with individuals, couples, and groups.
Jason provides clinical and psychoeducational assessments for children, adolescents, and adults. He specializes in autism spectrum and attention deficit/hyper activity diagnoses, as well as clinical assessments for mental health diagnoses. Jason works to help families and individuals understand their diagnoses, the results of their assessments, and what therapeutic directions are available to them and provide recommendations for parents, partners, other healthcare providers, and teaching professionals to support them.

Jason believes in meeting clients where they are, honouring each person’s experiences and individuality. His work is guided by authenticity, respect, and curiosity, creating a therapeutic environment where growth feels both possible and supported.
He is a registered provider with the Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB) program for First Nations and Inuit clients.
